- You will be asked to come in between the second and fifth day of your menstrual cycle for a blood test. Typically, the hormones FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), estradiol (estrogen level) and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) will be measured to assess your ovarian reserve or egg quality.
- Depending on your specific case other hormones may be measured as well.
- You will have a transvaginal pelvic ultrasound performed on the third day of your menstrual cycle in order to determine your antral follicle count (AFC). These are the small follicles between 2 to 9 mm in diameter and are a better predictor of your response to stimulation than the FSH level.
