Recommendations for IVF patients
During an in vitro fertilization cycle, certain lifestyle choices can decrease the chance of conception. Our San Diego IVF center recommends avoiding the following substances, both before and during treatment and pregnancy.
- Recreational drugs
- More than one caffeinated product or beverage per day
- Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, ibuprofen, Aleve, and naproxen
- Fish that are high in mercury like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish and tuna fish
Dr. Hosseinzadeh recommends that patients begin taking prenatal vitamins before treatment. She will review all prescription and over-the-counter medications before IVF. The goal is to ensure that a patient’s medications will not interfere with treatment or pregnancy.
